Below, there is a description of how the organization operates: working hard, building community, and offering snacks.

About Innbo

The Furniture Store You Can Trust

Four people, three women and one man, are smiling and laughing in a living room with colorful paintings on the wall behind them. The man and one woman sit on a green sofa, while the other two women stand behind them, one on each side. There are plants and decorative items around.

Welcome to Innbo — where comfort meets character,

and every room tells your story.

We’re Tia and Joel, Owners of Innbo Furniture & Design. A retired police chief and a former labor and delivery nurse & nonprofit supporter, we’ve always felt called to help others — in every job we’ve ever held.

Innbo was founded in 2004 by Rick Furnish, a passionate furniture expert who built the brand into a trusted name across Cornelius, Lake Norman, Charlotte, and beyond. Rick’s commitment to quality and service created a loyal following — and a legacy we’re proud to carry forward.

We trained under Rick for over a year, learning everything we could about the brands, craftsmanship, and product customization.

And in the process, we didn’t just fall in love with the furniture — we fell in love with the people who walk through these doors.

Today, we handpick every piece in our store with you in mind. We look for timeless design, sustainable materials, craftsmanship you can count on, and comfort you can feel the moment you sit down.

Whether you’re furnishing a new home, replacing a well-loved piece, or just want a room that finally feels right, we’re here to guide you with expert advice, free delivery, and white-glove installation

We believe your home should feel welcoming, functional, and entirely you.

That’s why we’re not just here to sell you furniture. We’re here to listen, to guide, and to celebrate with you every time you find the one.

At Innbo, we believe furniture should do more than just fill a space — it should elevate your home, reflect your style, and make life easier. That’s why everything we do, from the pieces we choose to the way we show up for you, is centered around one simple idea:

You deserve furniture you can trust and a team who truly cares.

“We don’t just want to sell you a sofa. We want to help you build a home that fits your life — beautifully and practically.”

— Tia McNelly, Owner & Design Principal

From her college days as an Interior Design major, to an unexpected career as a Labor & Delivery Nurse, and helping lead an international nonprofit advocating for vulnerable children and women, Tia brings heart to everything she does. Finally circling back to the furniture & design world, Tia now brings that same passion to your home. Whether designing a single chair or an entire room, Tia is passionate about helping you bring your unique vision to life.

  • Owner

Joel went from retired Police Captain to furniture store owner all because he fell in love with a recliner (true story, ask him about it!) What do the two have in common? A passion for helping others. Joel loves the furniture, but he loves providing over-the-top, personalized service even more. Want a deep-dive in the quality of materials or manufacturing? Joel is ready to geek out over all the details. Have an injury and need furniture designed to help you heal? Joel has been there. Looking for white-glove delivery & installation in your home? Joel is your guy. Whatever your unique need may be, from the moment Joel greets you in the showroom to the day of delivery, you'll feel never feel more taken care of.

  • Showroom Assistant

Born and raised under the sunny skies of Southern California, Katie has since traded palm trees for a life rooted in East Coast charm—with a deep appreciation for a little Southern hospitality and small towns. She earned a BA in Communication Arts with an emphasis in theater (so yes, there’s always a little dramatic flair in everything she does) and then spent a solid decade in the world of banking and finance—because every good story has an unexpected plot twist.
